Oops

I guess I was wrong about there not being a DL. I have been on one for awhile. My people didn’t allow me to play or go for a walk for 5 whole days. It was torture. First I had to go to the vet. I don’t mind going to the vet. Sometimes I lay down on the floor and go to sleep. Hal didn’t go with us. That was kind of weird. The vet is nice, but she pulled my leg until it hurt. Then I got some pills that made me throw up. Then, like I said, I couldn’t play. On Monday we started to go for a walk, but when we saw Riley at the park, we got to run around in the park. No ball, but running felt good. Today I got to play a little ball. I am not limping now. I think I’m OK.  Sometimes, people know best.

Oregon

or_070422_dave_ready.jpg We have been in Oregon. It was sooooo fun. I got to play ball two days. They took some pictures of me playing. This is one of me ready to play; I am totally focused. I made some pretty good plays. It rained so it was nice and muddy. When I got hot and thirsty, there were some great puddles I could lie in and drink from. I hurt my foot again. If I had a trainer, like other ball players, they would probably say I play too hard. But I kept playing. There’s no DL in daveball.

We are back at our other place now. I play almost every morning for about 30 minutes. We go for a walk on Tuesdays, because the trash trucks come on Tuesday. I haven’t quite figured why I can’t play ball when there are trash trucks. Sadie chases the trucks, but Hal and I don’t.

Saturday

Boy, did we get in trouble last night.  We were happy one minute and yelled at and in the garage the next.  We were greeting one of our people at the front door and then there was a crash and red stuff on the floor and we went outside.  I think maybe my tail knocked something off the table.  We came in later and no one yelled, so I think it’s okay.

Another very long game last night.  They kept saying it was cold, but when I went outside it was not cold.  I think the best playing weather is 35-40 degrees.  You don’t get so thirsty.  And playing in the snow is great!  Good traction.  The only bad thing is you lose the balls in the snow and can’t play with them again until the snow melts.  Mud is probably the best to play in.

A’s 5, Yankees 4

This was a hard game to watch, so I slept. I did see Travis Buck hit a triple, then score to win the game. My favorite players are the ones who run real hard and never give up. That’s how I play. This Buck guy could be one of my favorite players. He has a nice short name, too.

That ball I missed yesterday morning? Chavez had the same play, and he caught it! It must help having hands.

Friday

I was in pretty good form this morning – made some good catches. I was seeing the ball real well (did I get that right?).

I tried for one, spinning around and falling down. Missed it. One person said ‘Don’t be embarrassed, Dave’. You should know, dogs don’t get embarrassed. We always try hard, so no reason to. Cats get embarrassed, but will never admit it.

Yankees are in town. I can smell them. It’s not a good smell.

It was windy last night.  I was scared.  It was hard to sleep, but I finally got to sleep upstairs.  The noises were scarier than that mean cat, Mac.

A’s win

The A’s scored another 2 whole runs and won their first home game. I don’t think Ellis should have been charged with an error. That was a really hard ball to catch, and I should know. That’s my favorite kind, over the shoulder, and I think that one would have gone off my nose.

We were watching Baseball Tonight the other night. Well, actually I was trying to sleep, but it wasn’t easy because that show is so loud! Baseball doesn’t need a sound track.

Day game tomorrow, so I have to go to bed.

A’s home opener

and me and Hal had to stay home alone. I’ve never been to a game. I heard some dogs got to go last year. But then I would want to play ball or fight with the other dogs, so I guess I see why I can’t go. I did go to the A’s offices a couple of times. I got to play ball in a hallway. I tore the ball up, too.

The A’s had runners on base last night, but only T. Buck drove one in. Hmm… That sounds familiar.

Saw Sadie at the park this morning.

We didn’t get up until 9:17am. I don’t know why. We ran barking outside, but again nothing was there. One of these days…

We saw Angel at the park today.  She is nice, but a little pushy with our people.  I miss Sadie.
